Trip to Tucson

Kellie and I went sightseeing while we were together in Tucson.
We first went to see Biosphere 2. A giant glass building with 5 different ecosystems including part of the Amazon rainforest, a desert from Madagascar, and some of the Pacific ocean near southern California.

We also drove up to Mount Lemmon with Uncle Nate and Kole. This was a wonderful trip cause it was 104 in the valley and the temperature dropped to 74 as we drove into the mountains.

My personal highlight of the sightseeing was the Pima Air and Space Museum. Since Tucson is so dry. (one of the least humid places in the United States) the U.S. Air Force stores lots of their unused airplanes there because they won't rust for a long time. So there was this museum that had 50 restored planes indoors and over 250 outdoors.

Here is one of the airplanes Kellie thought was really awesome. It was developed to transport the rocket boosters for the NASA space shuttle since the rockets were too big to transport by train (couldn't go through tunnels), by truck (wider than two lanes), or by boat (risky going through the Panama canal). So air was the last resort and quickest shipment anyways.

 President Kennedy's Air Force One (One of the guides told us that any plane you see that says United States of America on the side is used to transport V.I.P.'s but most have blue paint that goes under the cockpit. Notice how this plane has the blue paint going over the cockpit. That is what signifies it as a presidential jet.)

Another highlight of our trip was a visit to the 'Lamanite' Temple. (If you want to see Kellie grin, ask her about the sweet deal she found at Kohl's for her skirt)
